“Endangered Samplers” series. This is the first time I am using my sewing skills to create more than just embroidered tablecloths and other fancy domestic linens. A sampler is a piece of fabric that one learned to embroider on with a fancy saying (Home Sweet Home). I began with 8 lace trimmed family napkins. On each I created an image of one of our local endangered species. I used paint, embroidery, felting, appliqué.
Once the samplers were completed, I painted twig- like images on bleached recycled fabric. I mounted each samplers onto the fabric and using dowels, I created a scroll.
